What is Animal Watchers Programme about?
The Force attaches great importance to animal welfare and strives to combat all acts of cruelty to animals. In October 2011, the Force launched the Animal Watch Scheme (AWS).
To enlist wider public support and participation in fighting against cruelty to animals, the Force is actively implementing the Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) to pool together the efforts of animal lovers at the community level.

Two police dogs, Goofy and Happy, have been recruited in the AWP as Spokesdogs. Goofy is a male Labrador Retriever whereas Happy is a male Springer Spaniel.

The Force has set up designated teams in 22 Police districts to professionally investigate animal cruelty cases. Apart from the professional investigation by designated teams, members of the public may watch out the following aspects to assist the Force in combatting acts of cruelty to animals.
